President John Mahama has been petitioned by a group calling itself the Volta Youth for Development to lay aside his vice, Amissah Arthur and rather chose the Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho as running mate ahead of the 2016 elections in November.
According to the pressure group, Vice President Amissah Arthur since the party gain power in 2012 has shown much incompetence in the discharge of his administrative duties and that pairing him with John Dramani Mahama ahead of the much anticipated elections could cost the party much votes.
Justifying the need for the speaker of parliament to be selected as the best choice for the party, the vociferous pressure group intimated Doe Adjaho stands a greater chance of pulling much votes for the party especially when it comes to the NDC's strong hold, the Volta Region.
In the meantime President John Mahama has been met with fierce pressure within the ranks of the NDC as party executives impress on him to select a running mate before the end of year. So far, some of names making rounds include current Vice president Kwesi Amissah Arthur, Trade minister Ekow Spio Gabrah and Foreign Affairs minister Hannah Tetteh but it remains very clear that President Mahama will chose Vice President Kwesi Amissah Arthur above all the other names.
