President Mahama has been petitioned by a group of NDC supporters to choose foreign affairs minister, Hanna Tetteh as his running mate for the 2016 presidential election.
The group, in a statement to the President justified that Hanna Tetteh was the best candidate who could amass the greatest voter appeal for the party considering her integrity and public appeal as compared to Vice President Amissah Arthur.
The petition by the group follows a recent one by the youth group in the Volta Region who petitioned the president to kick out Vice President Amissah Arthur as running mate due to what they considered was his ''incompetence.''
In the meantime President John Mahama has been met with fierce pressure within the ranks of the NDC as party executives impress on him to select a running mate before the end of year. So far, some of names making rounds include current Vice president Kwesi Amissah Arthur, Trade minister Ekow Spio Gabrah and Foreign Affairs minister Hannah Tetteh but it remains very clear that President Mahama will chose Vice President Kwesi Amissah Arthur above all the other names.
