‘Theft Was No Where Near Antoa Shrine’- Police

The Kenyasi District police commander, DSP Emmanuel Ad-Boahen says the report of thieves robbing the dreaded Anto Nyama shrine of its royal ornaments was completely false.

The Ghanaian Times reported that thieves made away with some gold ornaments and the other valuables worth thousands of cedis from the river goddess deity in the Kwabre East of the Ashanti region.

According to the police the thieves rather broke into a room near the Antoa chief palace which served as ‘warehouse’ for the royal family last Tuesday.

They made away with royal regalia and ornaments used for the installation of chiefs and other royals with the community.

The theft was detected when the occupants of the house noticed that the room where the items were kept had been broken into.

Emmanuel Adu-Boahen said six occupants of the house, including the chief in charge of the safekeeping of the items, had been arrested in connection with the theft and has since been granted police enquiry bail.
