Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has taken a swipe at club great Didier Drogba, claiming he refuses to take notice of his (Drogba’s) recent comments.
According to him, the Chelsea legend criticized the club’s players in order to increase the sale of his books.
The MLS player with the Montreal Impact, has called for the Chelsea squad to show more leadership, with the defending champion languishing in 15th position of the Premier League table, a position which looks unprecedented in the history of the EPL from a defending champion’s perspective. He granted interviews at the launch of his book, and told the Mirror that Chelsea’s younger players must develop their mental strength, a swipe which might not have gone down well with the trainer.
The Portuguese trainer has hit back at the criticism, however, and questioned Drogba's motives behind the quotes, suggesting the Ivorian is looking to create controversy to coincide with the release of his new autobiography.
Drogba, is reported to be eager to return to Stamford Bridge in a coaching role once retired expressed with sentiments the need for the players to establish their superiority as defending champions.
