After a long battle and patient wait to be acquitted and discharged of his alleged narcotic charge, embattled Reggae artist Ekow Micah has finally being acquitted and discharged by an Accra Circuit court.
The “Mesi wo hemaa” singer received the news amid tears when the judge, Justice Aboagye Tando gave the judgement in his favour.
In his judgment, Justice Aboagye Tandor said in other to prove the guilt of the accused for possession of narcotics the prosecution must prove the accused had knowledge of possessing the drug and the prove must be beyond all reasonable doubt.
According to him the accused has been able to raise serious doubts in the case of the prosecution of which the prosecution did nothing to refute the claim. He further added, that he arrived at the decision because the defense raised sufficient doubt in the case of the prosecution who had the duty of proving the guilt of the of Ekow Micah.
The musician was initially picked up by the police to aid investigations into allegations of rape and sodomy against Black Stars Captain, Asamoah Gyan. However, the police, during a search at his residence, found substances that have been confirmed as marijuana. After appearing in court for possession of narcotics, Ekow Micah was remanded into police custody to date though he pleaded not guilty.
