National Council for Tertiary Education Holds Emergency Meeting Over Teacher-Training Protests At Cape Vars

Following the wave of protests in teacher training colleges over mass dismissals in the failure to resit papers, the National Council for Tertiary Education is holding an emergency meeting on the best way forward.

The emergency meeting follows police brute force in the Ashanti Region against protesters of the Wesley College of Education on Tuesday morning following disagreement over directive by the University of Cape Coast allowing students to re-sit examinations only once – a directive which protesting students describe as unfair.

Meanwhile, the Education Ministry has backed the decision by the University of Cape Coast (UCC) , which is the supervising authority for the concerned colleges, to carry through with the policy.
