Mahama Chooses Amissah Arthur As Running Mate For 2016 Election

President John Mahama has finally settled on his vice Kwesi Amissah-Arthur as running mate ahead of the  2016 presidential elections.

Revealing his intentions to the National Executive Committee (NEC) and the National Council of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Monday, President Mahama justified his decision stating he had confidence in Kwesi Amissah-Arthur considering his close working relationship with himMeanwhile, many lobby groups within the party have argued against the re-nomination of  Mr. Amissah-Arthur as running mate, citing his low public visibility as names that popped up as possible replacements for Mr Amissah-Arthur include Hannah-Tetteh, Foreign Minister and the Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho.

The National Executive Committee and the National Council of the NDC are currently in a meeting to discuss the nomination with the President expected to join the meeting later in the day.
