There have been gun shots fired in the Ablekuma South constituency, specifically the Chorkor area when a ‘leading member’ of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ato Quarshie tried to address a press conference on the recent matters in the party.According to Joy News reporter, Kwakye Afreh Nuamah “just when tents were been erected and the place set up for the programme; some men who say they are youth of the NPP in the constituency stormed the venue, started breaking bottles.”
He further reported that one of the errant men fired a warning shot. “… he was holding what looked like a locally manufactured gun; chaos broke out at this point.”
The chaos led to a heated argument between the two parties.
The youth is reported to have obstructed the press conference because of fears that Mr. Ato Quashie was going to attack the party’s flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo over the suspension of the party’s national chairman Paul Afoko.
Meanwhile constituency secretary Henry Nii Lantey Plange who led the youth to the place said no member of the executive was aware of the press conference.
“There is authority in Ablekuma South constituency; so we quickly put our arsenal together to call this programme off,” he said.
