Choosing Amissah Arthur Will Make NDC Lose 2016 Elections - Group Warns Mahama

The choice by president Mahama to retain Vice-President Kwesi Amissah Arthur as running mate ahead of the 2016 general elections has attracted criticisms by a group calling itself Concerned Youth for Mahama as they argue the decision by Mahama is recipe for defeat.

According to the group chances of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in next year’s polls have been diminished as a result of the decision to retain the Vice-President as running mate.

Revealing his intentions to the National Executive Committee (NEC) and the National Council of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Monday, President Mahama justified his decision stating he had confidence in Kwesi Amissah-Arthur considering his close working relationship with himMeanwhile, many lobby groups within the party have argued against the re-nomination of  Mr. Amissah-Arthur as running mate, citing his low public visibility as names that popped up as possible replacements for Mr Amissah-Arthur include Hannah-Tetteh, Foreign Minister and the Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho.
