Willian can afford to celebrate at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea put their EPL troubles aside and cruised into the Champions League knockout stage with a 2-0 victory over their Portuguese opponents, Porto at the Stamford Bridge.

The game saw the presence of owner Abramovic who was seen celebrating heartily, his side’s 2 goal by Willian in the 52 minute.

Chelsea’s 1st goal was an own goal by Ivan Marcano through a rebound. Diego Costa’s attempt was blocked by Casillas but hit Marcano’s chest and went into the net for the needed opener in the 13 minute.

Porto, although won the greater part of possession, they did not look like a team that needed to beat Chelsea to go through with themt.

A Willian brilliance saw the Brazilian fire a rising shot from 20 yards after collecting a pass from Hazard to make it 2 – 0 against Porto.

Mourinho’s team created lot of scoring opportunities in the final 15 minutes, but could only get an Eden Hazard strike at the post from a tight angle.

The results was a welcoming one for Chelsea and manager Jose Mourinho, after a season which has perched from one calamity to another.

The reigning Premier League champions have struggled domestically, losing eight of their 15 top-flight matches this season to leave them in 14th position.

Mourinho insisted before the match that he had the backing of club owner, Roman Abramovic with his position coming under intense scrutiny.
