Governor Of Central Bank Promises To Tackle Cedi Depreciation

Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Henry Kofi Wampah has revealed Ghana would as a matter of urgency deal with the continuous depreciation of the cedi just so macro-economic growth is achieved.

Addressing the Oxford Business Group (OBG), the governor explained the central bank had faced a “difficult choice”, considering the importance of making credit accessible to the business community.

Meanwhile, the governor has further revealed that advanced monetary financing on the secondary market would be needed “to increase liquidity, creating appetite for longer-term debt securities” and that the central bank planned to introduce a platform to facilitate secondary market trading.
