The erratic power supply to the Brimsu Dam in the Central region has led to massive water shortage in the Cape Coast Metropolis.
According to a report by GNA, the situation has also led to workers reporting to work late, thus affecting productivity.
Many residents have been spotted carrying yellow gallons, popularly called “Kufuor Gallons,” and other containers combing through the metropolis in search of water, with some moving as far as to Elmina and other neighbouring communities to get water.
Central Regional Chief Manager of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), Emmanuel Kofi Opoku said the Brimsu Dam is the main source of water supply in the area.
He said due to the frequent power outages, it had become difficult to pump water from the dam.
