Adomi Bridge To Be Reopened On Friday

The Adomi Bridge located at Atimpoku in the Eastern region is expected to be re-opened to vehicular traffic on Friday December 18 following its closure for over two years as it underwent extensive rehabilitation works by Austrian Construction and Engineering firm, Bilfinger MCE GmbH on the 335metre bridge, spanning across the Volta Lake.

The much anticipated opening of the 12.9 million euros refurbished edifice is expected to ease the discomfort which got associated with the closure of the bridge after earlier reports warned of severe cracks on it.

The bridge which connects the Volta region to other parts of the country through the Eastern region, was closed down in March 2014, for its first major rehabilitation after it was commissioned over five decades ago.
