Accra Academy Student Drown With Friend At Amanful

A lifeless body of a boy believed to be a student of Accra Academy was in the early hours of Monday found ashore Amanful, a fishing community near the Cape Coast Castle.

According to eye witnesses, the student believed to be in his 20’s and another person said to be his friend drowned while swimming in the sea along the OLA - Cape Coast Castle shores on Sunday.

The students were believed to be among a group who had come for an educational excursion at the Cape Coast castle but decided to stay back and swim at the Amanful shores when the sad incident occurred.

When contacted, the Bakaano Police in Cape Coast confirmed the incident and said the body has since  been deposited at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital morgue pending autopsy while that of his colleague has still not been found.

Meanwhile, the police say they have launched an investigation into the incident and were collaborating with authorities of some Senior High Schools to ascertain the true identity of the students.

They also advised tour operators and organizers to collaborate with tour guides and make sure adequate security measures were always in place.
