Voting Ends, Counting Underway In Amenfi West By-Elections

Voting has officially ended across all polling stations in the much anticipated Amenfi-West by-election in the Western Region. 

So far, reports from the police and other election observers indicate no form of chaos or violence was recorded, especially due to the intensified security presence by the police and military.

The by-election is to see four parties; the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) and the United Freedom Party (UFP) contest as the candidates on the ballot paper are; Mr Abraham Kwadwo Buadee, a 41-year-old accountant, for the PPP; Mr Paul Derkyi, 43, a lawyer for the NPP; Mr Elvis Adjei, a 30-year-old Loan Administrator for the UFP; and Mr Eric Afful, a 41-year-old Economist, representing the NDC.

The Constituency of Amenfi West is noted to be one of the oldest constituencies,since constitutional rule in 1992.
