The police in Ashanti region have arrested a gang of five armed robbers who attacked a church headed by a prophetess and her husband who also serves as a pastor at Atwima Manhyia.
The thieves made away with Gh47, 000 of the church’s harvest proceeds after they stormed the house which also serves as the church premises with machetes, clubs and scissors.
The five have been identified as Owusu Emmanuel, 25, Atta Amoah and George Mensah aged 32 and 48 respectively. The rest are Yaw Afrifa, 23 and James Darko believed to be a teenager.
The pastor of the church, Jones Okyere led policemen to arrest them at their hideout on 14 December, just a day after the incident.
The suspects are in police custody and will soon be arraigned before the court for prosecution.
Meanwhile, the police have arrested two suspects, David Ninson and Dramani Abubakar at Amakom for manufacturing biscuits made out of Indian hemp.
The swoop on them also found in their possession, 21 parcels and 400 wrappers of dried leaves, suspected to be Indian hemp which was concealed in an underground tunnel at the Kumasi Abbatoir.
