2016 Elections To End By November 30, EC Boss Reveals

Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Charlotte Osei has revealed that the 2016 general elections will not exceed the November 30 mark even if there remain a run-off.

Briefing Parliament on the EC's preparation towards the 2016 general election, Charlotte Osei further stated that all  eligible voters who will be directly involved in regulating the election process are likely to cast their vote on November 3, 2016 - a move which will see members of the Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons Service, Customs Division of Ghana Revenue Authority, Ghana National Fire Service, EC officials and staff of essential services will cast their vote four days ahead of the general elections.

Meanwhile the Electoral Commission is yet to officially decide on whether or not to go by a new voters register following a national inter-party stakeholders meeting which saw the various political parties and also civil society groups espouse various stances on whether or not a new voter's register is needed.
