The students admitted the offence during interrogation by the police but explained that the rituals were meant to cast spells on some beautiful female students in the school who they wanted to hypnotize to become their sexual partners.

The alarming rate of occultism practice amongst students, especially Senior High Schools came to the fore, some three years back when seven students of the Adidome Senior High School in the Volta Region were suspended indefinitely for practising occultism in the school.
