The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) extraordinary congress is currently underway at the Sunyani Coronation Park in the Brong Ahafo Region.
The event has seen in attendance several bigwigs from the party. Some the personalities present are: flagbearer of the party Nana Akufo-Addo, his running mate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former President John Kufour, minority leader of parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah, Kennedy Agyepong [MP for Assin-North], amongst others.
Meanwhile, the acting Chairman of the NPP, Freddie Blay during his address to the delegates gather charged the party not to let the death of the party’s Upper East Chairman, Adams Mahama be in vain.
Mr. Adam died earlier this year after an acid attack on him by persons suspected to be members of the NPP.
Addressing the over 6,500 delegates and party supporters at the extraordinary delegates congress, Mr. Blay also urged the party to work together and secure victory in the 2016 elections.
On his part, Minority Leader Osei Kyei Mensa-Bonsu said Ghana is “bleeding profusely”under the watch of President John Mahama.
Comparing the administrations of the erstwhile President Kufour to the Mahama led-administration, the MP for Suame noted that the current government has destroyed all the gains and good things done by the NPP government.
He also accused the Mahama government of not failing to fight corruption head-on. “Corruption, wastage and mal-administration is overwhelming.”
