Yeboah Asante, a military officer, a police constable known as, Samuel Asamoah and two other accomplices have been busted by the Accra regional police command for robbery.
The two others are, Richard Nutornutsi, 30, a driver and Jerry Somi, a 26 year old musician have all admitted to the offense and are being processed for court. The constable, who, according to records, is on indictment for a similar offence, and the others have admitted the offence and are being processed for court.
Samuel, 32, the police constable who is reported to be on indictment for a similar offense, conspired with Yeboah, 34, the soldier and the two others in the gang to trail a businessman all the way from the bank to his Madina residence.
Deputy Accra Regional police commander, ACP Timothy Bonga told the press that, on December 12 at about 12pm, the gang trailed the target from the bank till they arrested him in front of his house.
At the entrance of the victim’s house, Samuel and Yeboah, who were dressed in police and military uniforms, informed him that he was under arrest for fraud.
According to ACP Bonga, they instructed the victim to join them to Burma Camp to help in investigations and quickly bundled the victim into an Opel Corsa cab with registration number GW 6449-15, which was being driven by Richard Nutornutsi.
The police commander stated that on the way to Burma Camp, the gang then robbed the victim of GHC 1,860 and an iPhone 5 and then sped off.
