Flagbearer of the Peoples National Convention (PNC) Dr. Edward Mahama says he is much optimistic that the year 2016 would be a better year for Ghana.
The words of Dr. Mahama contradicts that of many economists and political experts who predict that 2016 could see Ghana plunge to an economic meltdown following the worsening debt stock and severe energy crisis which is feared to have reduced investor confidence dramatically and also made Ghana one of the worst African states to do business in. Also, predictions are rife over an imminent civil war even as the 2016 general elections draws near considering the political tensions currently ingrained within major political parties in the country.
Dr. Mahama will be contesting for the presidency on the ticket of the PNC in next year’s general election following his triumph in the PNC presidential primaries. He triumphed over Hassan Ayariga, the 2012 presidential candidate for the PNC in the recent party congress. Dr Mahama, prior to 2012, was the PNC flagbearer in the 1996 presidential elections through to 2008.
