has confirmed a meeting between government and Organised Labour.The meeting will discuss the hikes in utility tariffs and its effects on organized labour and the citizenry as a whole.
According to the Employment Minister the meeting which will be held on January 5, 2016 was at the behest of President John Mahama.
In an interview with Joy FM on Tuesday, Mr. Haruna said the “we [government] need to get a middle ground” on the tariff matter as soon as possible.
The government team is expected to dialogue with Ghana Employment Association, Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) and Trades Union Congress.
Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) announced in early December, electricity and water tariffs would go up by 59.2% and 67.2% respectively.
