The Accra Regional police command says it will deploy over 3,200 officers to ensure maximum security on the roads and in residential areas during 31night and New Year celebrations.
According to the police administration it will employ innovative security measures to protect life and property.
In Ghana 31 December night are days most, if not all Ghanaians go out to church to worship their maker and cross over into the new year.

Addressing the media in Accra, regional commander COP Dr George Akuffu Dampare said the police will have their men in the residential areas whiles most step out to church and also mounted check points at vantage areas to ensure drivers and motorists are being disciplined on the roads.
“We are also putting people at the various locations where events are taking place,” he added.

“There are other arrangements you put in place which the nature of it is such that we cannot share with the public because they are very confidential security arrangements, and we want to assure you that when we put all these things together we are going to have a very peaceful, quiet 31st night and a New Year,” he added.
