Beatrice Asamoah aka Maabena, 25 is reported to have been found dead in Kumi’s room on December 25, 2015. This was after neighbours had over head the two engaged in a scuffle with the wife shouting for help.

The Crime officer of the Kasoa District Police Command, DSP Naa Musa told Graphic Online that at about 4am on December 25, 2015 the police received a call from a neighbor that Kumi had locked up his wife and was beating her.

The police quickly dispatched a team to the location where they forced their way into the room on reaching there. Maabena was found dead in the room with a protruded tongue which signaled that she was strangled.

A search in the room and house by the police showed that the alleged killer, Kumi had packed his belongings and absconded without being noticed by the co-tenants.

Police preliminary investigations carried out, revealed that though the parents of the deceased had rented a room for her at Kasoa CP following their separation, she usually went to Kumi's house at night against the parents’ wish.

It was also gathered that the continuous assault of the lady by Kumi had been reported to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVSSU) at Kasoa.
