Rawlings Calls For Ex-Military Officers To Be Deployed To Ensure Peace During Elections

Ex president Jerry John Rawlings says government would have to deploy all retired security officers in the country in order to ensure peace and security ahead of the general elections scheduled for November.

In an interview on Starr FM in Accra, the former president explained that the outcome of the November 7 general elections would be purely hinged on the seriousness that Ghanaians attach to it, thus calling for transparency and accountability to be the guide ahead of the polls.

In the meantime the electoral commission has thrown out calls for a new voters register describing debates by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) as unconvincing. Head of the electoral commission, Charlotte Osei has therefore charged Ghanaians to put Ghana first ahead of the general elections calling for peace to prevail.
