Police At Duty Post Kills 24 Year-Old Suspect At Bolgatanga

Police on duty at post at Namoo in the Bongo district of the Upper East has shot down a 24-year man identified as Nasiru Nsoh.

According to a Bolgatanga-based A1 Radio report, Nasiru was shot down by the police at 3pm on Saturday, January 2, 2014 when the deceased was riding home from Namoo to Bolgatanga with his brother.

Wahab Nsoh, the brother of the deceased who rode on the motorbike with Nasiru, said on seeing police personnel at a barrier, they quickly diverted their route through a different direction for fear of being stopped and arrested for not wearing a helmet even though their bike was duly registered.

Having succeeded in avoiding the police, the brothers made a stop to see a photographer but the police however appeared from a different direction and subsequently opened fire on them which caught the deceased, Nasiru in the ribs.

He is reported to have died shortly after being rushed to the Bolgatanga Hospital from Bongo hospital where he was first admitted.

Meanwhile, the family of the deceased has since reported the incident to the Upper East regional police command whilst the body has since been deposited at the Bolgatanga Hospital Morgue.
