Some leaders in the music industry have visited veteran Highlife singer Amakye Dede, on his sick bed at the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
The delegation led by the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) President- Bice Osei Kuffour aka Obour, Chairman of Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) Kojo Antwi, Highlife Musician Rex Omar, Music/Movie Producer Bendex and veteran Highlife Singer Obuoba J.A. Adofo.
After visiting the injured high life veteran who is receiving treatment at the Cardio-thoracic centre of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on Sunday January 3, 2016, the delegation have revealed that Amakye is recovering steadily.
MUSIGA President Obour shared this on social media: “Visited Amakye Dede with other giants in the Music Industry. He is recovering. We thank God in all things we give him praise. He knows best”.
Legendary highlife musician, Amakye Dede escaped death on Saturday morning January 2, 2016 when a car he was travelling in with his manager and bodyguard got involved in a fatal accident. His manager Isaac Yeboah got killed and his body guard sustained serious injuries.
The manager – Isaac Yeboah has been the Editor for Ghana’s popular newspaper – P&P for many years and he was a regular contributor to several showbiz radio programmes in Ghana, including Peace FM’s “Entertainment Review”.
According to reports, the gory accident took place at Bonsu Junction, a few meters away from Paradise resort. A vehicle is said to have crashed into a parked car Amakye Dede, his manager and bodyguard were in—with the manager dying on the spot and the two sustaining serious injuries.
Currently, Amakye Dede and the bodyguard are receiving medical care at a hospital.
