Sudan Will Host 2016 Cecafa Cup

The Council of East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA) has chosen Sudan to host the 2016 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.

The last time the country hosted the regional tournament was in 2003. Sudan withdrew in the 2002 CECAFA and as a consequence were suspended indefinitely from taking part in future CECAFA tournaments but were reinstated a year later.

At the event, where CECAFA announced its five-year strategic plan that will mainly be centred around youth and women’s football, as well as its technical development, Uganda were chosen to stage the Cecafa Under-17 and Women's Championship this year, while Burundi hosts the Under-20 event.
