Highlife Musician, Daniel Amakye Dede has opened up about the death of his manager and friend, Isaac Yeboah who died in the accident.
Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show from his sick bed at Cardiothoracic Unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Amakye thanked God for his life, assured Ghanaians and his fans that he is fine.
He also acknowledged the prayers, support and well wishes from the general public.
Daniel Amaye Dede thanked the President of Ghana John Dramani Mahama for taking time off his busy schedule to visit him personally on his sick bed and thanked NPP flagbearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo. He also thanked Honorable KB for providing an ambulance to transport him from the Eastern to Korle-bu.
Amakye Dede was of praise for Dr. Osei Kwame, Dr. Siriboe, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and her Deputy, the Inspector General of Police, his fellow musicians and all those who have taken time to visit him at the hospital.
In a related development, Legendary highlife artiste, Nana Kwame Ampadu I has said that the news of Amakye Dede and his team’s involvement in an accident which resulted in the death of the manager came to him as a great shock.
According to Nana Ampadu, he was shattered but only took consolation from the survival of Amakye Dede.
It’s sad that his manager passed on; but when I heard Amakye is alive, I told myself that at least, not all were wiped away. I’m sure Amakye is not through with his work on earth that is why he survived. The death of his manager is worrying but God gives and takes. What we have to do is to give him a befitting burial,” a sorrowful Nana Ampadu told Happy FM.
The highlife legend, his manager and his bodyguard were involved an accident at the Bunso Junction on the Accra-Kumasi Highway where they had gone to performed at the Paradise Rest Stop in the New Year in the early hours on Saturday January 2, 2015.
While his manager, Isaac Yeboah died on the spot, his bodyguard who sustained injuries is still on admission at the 37 Military Hospital. Amakye was transferred from the Hawa Memorial Hospital in Osiem where he was taken to after the accident to the Cardiothoracic Unit for further treatment.
Amakye Dede’s Toyota Corolla car was rammed into by a Sprinter bus from Kumasi with him inside it, as he was waiting to perform at a show at the Paradise Spot, a few meters away from the popular Linda Dor Restaurant.
The sad incident which occurred on New Year Day led to the death of his manager, Isaac Yeboah. Amakye Dede’s bodyguard was also injured. Both are responding to treatment at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and 37 Military Hospital respectively.
