Kumasi Central Market Experience Another Fire Outbreak

Fire has gutted the Kumasi Central Market last night. The fire which spread fast through the market destroyed more than 1,000 live birds and hundreds of shops.

According to eyewitnesses the fire started around 9:30pm Wednesday night; it started from the yam market before it spread through other parts of the market.

It has taken fire personnel over 8 hours to bring the inferno under control.”Fire personnel are trying to bring the fire under control while some traders try to salvage what they can amidst wails from those who can’t,” a Joy FM reporter said.

Kumasi Central Market Experience Another Fire Outbreak

The central market has been hit countless times by similar fire incidents.  Last night is estimated to have affected over 500 shops.

The Harmattan weather has seen a number of fire outbreaks in the past weeks. The recent one being when the reserved pitch at Adako Jachie near Ejisu caught fire whiles Kumasi Asante Kotoko was training.

The players together with the technical team had to stop the training session to help put the fire out and stop it from expanding to the training pitch.
