Group Orders EC Boss To Resign For Keeping A Second Job

Chairperson of the electoral commission, Charlotte Osei has been ordered by pressure group, Progressive Nationalist Forum is resign following claims of having an additional job as a board member of the Ghana Reinsurance Company Limited aside her current job - a claim which means a breach of the constitution.

According to the group, Madam Charlotte Osei as the chairman of the electoral commission is also a board member of the Ghana Reinsurance Company Limited stating they do have evidence to show that the Charlotte Osei before her appointment as EC chair also remains as a member of the board of the company.

Meanwhile, pressure group is ordering the EC boss to quit one of the jobs with immediate effect as stipulated under Article 44 Clause 4.

Article 44 Clause 4 of the constitution states that “The Chairman and the two Deputy Chairmen of the commission shall not, while they hold office on the Commission, hold any other public office.” The electoral commission is yet to respond to the claims.
