The entire nation led by Gabonese president, Ali Bongo Ondimba gave new Africa’s football king Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, a hero's welcome on Friday at the presidential palace where the country's leading civil honours, the Commander of the National Order of Merit was conferred on him.

Players and officials of the Gabonese national team, the Panthers, were all at the ceremony which threw the whole nation into frenzy. Its citizens were elated that such an achievement has brought honours on the nation which hosts the AFCON next year, 2017.
Gabon president Ali Bongo Ondimba posted photos of the player's arrival on his Twitter account as he welcomed him to the presidential palace.
An over excited Aubameyang who was feted by thousands of fans who packed the Nzeng Ayong stadium where he showed off the award said, "I am happy and proud with this honour that I dedicate to the people of Gabon, my family and you, Mr President,".
The charged crowd could not hold their excitement as they sung in ecstasy.
