The management of retail company, Koala Supermarket has rewarded the heroics and bravery of the taxi driver who crashed into the armed robbers who shot the company’s sales girl over the weekend with a new car.
According to an administrative manager for Koala, Belinda Bekoe the company is really pleased and thankful for the show of bravery exhibited by the cab driver, whose name is being withheld for security reasons.
She further said the gesture is also to encourage more of such brave conducts; thank you “for being a national hero and a special hero with the Koala family,” Belinda said on Accra based Joy FM on Monday morning.
Also speaking for the first time after Saturday’s incident, the taxi driver on the Joy Super Morning Show said “everybody is praising me but it is not me, it is by God. The heart needed to do this was given by God.”
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police has also revealed plans to reward the driver and others for their bravery.
“I have the directives of the Inspector-General of Police to announce that at an appropriate time, the taxi driver and all those who contributed to the arrest of the suspects will be handsomely rewarded,” the Director General of CID DCOP Prosper Abloh told the media.
The announcement comes on the back of a call by former President John Rawlings for the nation to honour the taxi driver and others.
