Ex-Convicts Of Guantanamo Bay Are Not Terrorists - Hanna Tetteh

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hanna Tetteh has further justified government's decision to shelter former inmates of the Guantanamo Bay cell explaining that the two ex-convicts were foot soldiers of Al-Qaeda who posed no security threat whatsoever.

In an interview with Radio Gold in Accra, the minister assured that the ex-convicts, Mahmoud Omar Mohammed Bin Atef,36, and Khalid Shayk Mohammed, 34 are peaceful men who have no intention of endangering Ghanaians.

Reacting to reason(s) why parliament was not involved in the transfer of the prisoners, Hanna Tetteh argued there remains no need for such an action.

Civil society groups including, the Catholic Bishops Conference and the Christian Council of Ghana have condemned the decision by the Mahama-led administration to open Ghana’s doors to them thus ordering government to send them back to the US.
