UK murder suspect, Arthur Simpson-Kent who was arrested at Busua near Takoradi on the 9th of January, 2016 has been remanded in custody by an Accra circuit court.
Arthur Simpson-Kent, a british national who is alleged to have murdered his girlfriend and two children in London was charged with murder to begin his extradition process.
Speaking at the court today, prosecutor Rebecca Agyare disclosed that the UK Interpol tipped off their Ghanaian counterparts that Arthur Simpson-Kent had arrived in Ghana after fleeing from the UK. Madam Rebecca added that the UK Interpol, allege that Arthur Simpson-Kent is the prime suspect for the murder of his girlfriend Sian Blake and two children, whose bodies were buried in a shallow grave in the garden behind their apartment at Erith in London.
His team of lawyers, led by Justice Srem Sai noted that he had been prevented from seeing his client since his arrest, till today. Justice Sai blamed the AG and the state security apparatus as the reason behind his denial to have access to his client.He also disclosed that the state has erred in detaining their client without formally charging him.
The circuit court, presided over Justice Rosemond Agyirie adjourned the case to January 26, 2016 and instructed the BNI in whose custody the suspect is being held, to allow him unlimited access to his lawyers.
Arthur Simpson-Kent is alleged to have killed a former EastEnders actress, Sian Blake, and her two sons and bolted to Ghana days after being questioned about the crime. The alleged murderer was arrested by a team of police detectives from the Homicide Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mr Hanson Gove, at his hideout in a thicket at Butre, near the Busua Beach Resort in the Western Region, last Saturday, January 9, 2016.
