There are reports that Arabian Gulf Premier League holders Al Ain may soon offload ex Nigerian international, Emmanuel Emenike.
Punch reports that the United Arab Emirates side on Tuesday January 12 completed a €3.9m signing of Brazilian striker Douglas, who was also unveiled at Khalifa Bin Zayed Stadium.
It was disclosed that the arrival of the Brazilian will force Al Ain to ask Emenike to return to Fenerbache before the January 25 transfer deadline, as the management of the team believe the 28-year-old Douglas, whose 21 goals helped Sanfrecce Hiroshima to the J-League title, a better striker than the Nigerian.
It would be recalled that Emenike joined Al Ain on a season-long loan from Fenerbahce in 2015 as a replacement for Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan.
Istanbul-based Daily Sabah posited that Fenerbahce are planning to demand at least 15 million euros for Emenike – apparently to force Al Ain to end the player’s loan deal in the January transfer window.
