The Guardian has reported that English Premier League side, Liverpool is monitoring Athletic Bilbao’s forward Iñaki Williams.
The 21-yearold who has a release clause in his contract of €20m is currently the most highly rated Bilbao player. The club has a relatively well structured youth system which has produced the likes of the young Williams who was born in Bilbao to a Ghanaian father and a Liberian mother.
He has an impressive 10 goal haul this season which has made him attract interests from Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid too.
The skilful winger operates as a central striker for Spain’s Under-21s and it is understood that Liverpool are looking to replenish that department.
They have therefore scouted him in recent weeks as Jürgen Klopp goes hunting for a highly rated forward.
The player’s rise in performance has seen Arsenal and Tottenham all sending scouts to watch the Black Stars target, but Atlético and Real Madrid’s ban on transfer in the summer and January 2017, could make them move for him in this transfer window.
The player, who has his foot firmly grounded when it comes to his future, has already resisted his club’s attempts to persuade him to sign a new contract believed to contain a release clause worth €100m. Athletic Bilbao are therefore reluctant to allow him to leave in January for less than €20m paid in one lump sum.
