TEWU Strikes Over Disagreement In Single Spine Salaries

The Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU) is declaring a strike action following the failure by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) to address issues related to the salaries of the aggrieved teachers with leaders of the Union saying that the Commission reneged on its promise to bridging the gap between salaries of junior and senior staff of all public universities.

In a statement issues by TEWU, members of the union say they have been left with no decision than to leave the classrooms as all means to negotiate with the FWSC has proved futile.

The strike action is expected to interrupt the 2016 academic year across all public universities as lectures are expected to be interrupted until futher notice. The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission is yet to officially respond to the strike action.
