The student reportedly died after taking the concoction in an attempt to abort the pregnancy.

The Regional Crime Officer, Superintendent Reuben Asiwoko, who confirmed the tragic incident, said the two suspects, whose names are being withheld, allegedly gave the concoction to the deceased on December 31 last year, which led to her complaining of abdominal pains.

She was quickly rushed to a clinic in Bogoso where she was admitted.

According to the police, her condition worsened so she was referred to the Tarkwa Government Hospital on January 1, 2016, where it was diagnosed that she attempted abortion.

At the Governmet Hospital, the deceased’s condition deteriorated so she was transferred to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital.

The deceased, however, died at the hospital on arrival and the body was returned to Tarkwa Government Hospital.

She is alleged to have mentioned her boyfriend and a female friend’s names as those who gave her medicine to abort the pregnancy.

Meanwhile, Mr Eric Nkansah, the distraught father of the deceased, has promised to pursue legal action against the suspects to ensure justice for his daughter.

He said: “In fact, this is a great loss and a sad moment for me because my daughter was very intelligent and I love her so much and I have even registered her to write the upcoming Basic Education Certificate Examination although she was in JHS two,” he said.

The corpse has since been deposited at the Tarkwa Government Hospital morgue for autopsy, whilst the two are in police custody assisting in investigations.
