Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho is charging all religious groups in Ghana to pray against any planned terrorist attack in the nation.
In an address to congregants of the First Sky Group and the handing over of 60 church buildings to the Assemblies of God Secretariat in Ho, Volta Region, the speaker of parliament revealed that the possibility of an imminent attack in Ghana is so high.
The appeal by the speaker in parliament follows the surge in terrorist attacks in the world including countries in the West Africa sub region.
Meanwhile, authorities in Burkina Faso have reported that the siege at a Burkina Faso’s Splendid faith hotel by suspected Islamist militants is over. This report comes amid new reports of attack on a second hotel.The assault on the Splendid Hotel in the West African state’s capital, Ouagadougou, claimed lives of at least 23 people of 18 different nationalities. Four attackers were also killed, two of them being women, officials said.
Meanwhile, the Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) militant group has announced that it carried out the attack. The militants attacked the Splendid and the nearby Cappuccino cafe on Friday evening, setting off several explosions. Both places are popular with UN staff and foreigners.
