Flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has condemned president Mahama for his decision to grant shelter to two detainees from the Guantanamo Bay cell describing the move as an example of leadership failure.
Giving out a tribute in honour of the late Alhaji Alhassan Bin Salih in Wa, at an event of homage held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, Akufo-Addo explained the move by president Mahama was highly dictatorial.
To this end, Nana Akufo-Addo admonished all Ghanaians, regardless of their political or religious affiliations, to refrain from introducing religious divisions into the debate, for the issue at stake is not a religious one.
In the meantime, the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu is calling on all Ghanaians to accept the decision by government to bring in the two Guantanamo Bay detainees into the country.According to spokesperson of the Chief Imam, Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu, Ghanaians must be there to offer helping hand to men who have had their humans rights violated , integrated into the society.
