The Accra Regional Police Command in a statement has thanked the leadership of Organised Labour for putting up a peaceful protest Wednesday.
The Police indicate in their statement that the protest, which was attended by about 3,500 people was successful and done in the confines of the law.
According to COP George Dampare, “all though a full assessment and evaluation of the entire exercise has just begun, the Police can state that, the demonstration was well organised and conducted within the tenet of the public order management.”
The police also urged the organisers of the protest to continue to work with the Police Regional Command in future demonstrations to ensure law and order.
“…The police will entreat future event organisers to work with the Regional Command to ensure utmost maintenance of law and order, especially during this election year and beyond.”
Organised Labour yesterday demonstrated against government’s increases in petroleum prices and utility tariffs.
