A Ghananain Lady entrepreneur, Bernice Dapaah is the founder of Ghana Bamboo Bikes Initiate; her company produces bicycles from bamboo.
In an interview with " target="_blank" rel="nofollow">AJ+ she said they harvest bamboo for production. According to her, she decided on the journey to enterprenuership in college. “When I was in college, I decided to see how best I can do something after school; especially using our local raw-material,” she said in a video documentary with AJ+.

Bernice has trained and employed over 35 young people. She revealed that her intent is to change the Face of transportation in Ghana with her bamboo bike project. Amongst the people she works with are also the disabled.
She donates some of the bamboo bikes to kids in the rural areas who have to walk long distance to school.
“… And for each bamboo plant used; the team plants 10 more,” Bernice noted.
The bamboo is polished and designed with all sorts of creative arts.
She said initially it wasn’t easy. “At the initial stages, it was a bit difficult because the prototype wasn’t successful. But later we kept trying, in business there is always a risk. But with perseverance we can go far,” Bernice Dapaah told AJ+.
The bamboo bike is not only ridden in Ghana now, its ridden across the world.
