President Mahama Must Pay Taxes - Dr Ndoum Insists

Presidential Candidate of the Progressive People's Party (PPP), Dr Paa Kwesi Ndoum is calling for the removal of the tax exemption status enjoyed by presidents of Ghana arguing it could serve as motivation to citizens to stick to their tax obligations.

The PPP flagbearer believes the clause in the constitution that exempts the president from paying tax (Income Tax 2015 (Act 896) which stipulates that the salary, allowance, facilities, pension and gratuity of the President in accordance with Article 68(5) of the Constitution is exempted from tax).

The call by Dr Ndoum follows the hike in utility prices and taxes which has attracted the disagreement of public sector workers, political parties and civil service organisations.
