The Ashanti Region police command have launched an intensive manhunt for four highway robbers believed to be of Fulani origin who shot police corporal, Alexander Kyeremeh, aged 30, at Kasei near Ejura in the Ashanti region.
The Ashanti Regional police has beefed up security on the Ejura-Atebubu road with intensified police patrols made up of personnel from the Homicide Unit to assist the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) as both uniformed and plain-clothed police take part in the investigations, Kumasi-based Nhyira FM has reported .
Corporal Kyeremeh, was travelling from Yeji to Kumasi when he was shot dead by the robbers in an armed robbery related case.
The Ejura District commander of Police, Superintendent Anthony Appiah who confirmed the incident to Graphic Online, said the deceased was on board a bus travelling from Yeji to Kumasi when the bus he was travelling on, bumped into the armed robbers who had earlier intercepted another bus travelling from Atebubu to Kumasi.
They were also stopped and ordered to surrender all the monies on them by the robbers numbering about three with a fourth one hiding in a bush nearby. He was shot in the right rib by the armed robbers when he failed to comply with their order.

Supt Appiah said when information got the police, “we quickly moved in but then, they had fled the scene. We have combed the whole area including the surrounding villages but found no trace of them,” he said, adding that the police left message with the surrounding communities to inform the police of any suspicious characters.
According to Supt Appiah, Corporal Kyeremeh was sent to the Ejura Government Hospital where he died some three minutes later.
