WHO steps in to help Ghana control spread of p. meningitis

The World Health Organization (WHO) has offered to aid Ghana end the spread of the deadly The World Health Organization (WHO) has stepped in to help Ghana curtail the spread of the deadly pneumococcal meningitis which has killed over 30 persons since it last broke in 2015.

Disease Prevention and Control Officer at the WHO, Sally Ann Ohene has revealed that the WHO is currently on the ground providing clinical and logical support to the Ghana Health Service just so the disease is eradicated.

The epidemic which is feared to be spreading more than expected has further seen over 60 others seriously hospitalized following massive infections as health experts fear the recent strains remains most contagious and deadly than Cerebrospinal Meningitis.
