The Kasoa police have arrested a man who they describe as notorious and dangerous man through its intelligence.
The man, Mike Kelson, 25 recruits robbers from Kwame Nkrumah Circle and other surrounding hideouts who are unleashed to ‘terrorise’ residents of Amanfrom and Kasoa in the Central Region.
The police surveillance on the terror robber got him where they wanted, this time, his hideout at Opeikuma, a suburb of Kasoa.
The leader of the Kasoa robbery syndicate was arrested while relocating to Tema with his family made up of his wife and a son.
The police had Kelson’s name on their police wanted list shortly after he had been released from police custody where he had been on remand for four years whilst awaiting trial at the Swedru Circuit Court.
He was released on June 4, 2015 by the Accra High Court who granted him bail based on a motion filed by his father.
The Kasoa District Police Commander, Superintendent Mr Samuel T. Punobyin who spoke to the Daily Graphic said, Kelson, after his release became a pivot for a number of armed robbers who had been involved in a series of robberies in Kasoa, Amanfrom and the surrounding areas.
According to the police, some victims from Amanfrom and Kasoa, identified Kelson as the leader of the gang that attacked them in their homes when the police conducted an identification parade at the Amanfrom District Police Station.
Many gang members of his syndicate have been arrested while two were said to have been lynched at Kasoa last year.
Meanwhile, the police said they were on the hunt for some of Kelson’s accomplices and the buyers of the stolen items, having gathered enough information from their preliminary investigations that he sold his booty, including mobile phones, wax prints and electronic gadgets, to some traders “at give-away prices”.
Some stolen items retrieved from Kelson included mobile phones, wax prints, mobile phone cases, a military cap and a bag.
