There have been sporadic shooting in Northern Regional town of Bunkrugu Yooyo. The gunshots started Wednesday evening around 8pm.
According to the police about four houses have been burnt as a result of the renewed clashes between two factions in the area [the Jamon and the Jafouk].
The shooting is still ongoing as of this morning. No casualty has yet been reported.
Meanwhile, it’s unclear what triggered Wednesday night's scuffles. The security personnel on the ground are struggling to bring the situation under control.
In other chieftaincy issues, peace talks in the Dagbon conflict is expected to resume in Kumasi at the Manhyia Palace. The Asantehene-led committee will deliberate with both the Abudu and Andani families on how to implement a road-map to peace.
The Abudu royal family is demanding access to the Gbewa Palace to perform the final funeral rites of the late Yaa-Naa Maamudu Abdlai, but the Andanis have refused and warned blood shed.
Government have deployed more security personnel to the area.
