Fire burns down 34 houses in Volta Region

There has been reports of about 34 thatch houses raised down by fire at Ative-Korfeyie, a farming community in the Ketu-North district of the Volta Region on Wednesday.

The fire is reported to have started from a bushfire set by game hunters in the area - a development which is feared to have taken personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service four hours to douse the flames. Deputy Ketu North district coordinator, Mr. Bright Dela Alormetu told Starr news’ Lambert Atsivor, that fifteen electricity poles were also destroyed by the inferno, which has rendered about 134 persons homeless.

Meanwhile the affected residents have been relocated into a nearby vocational school building as they arrange relief items for them and further clear up the rubble.
