Accra Hearts of Oak, will as part of events to commemorate the 11th anniversary of their CAF Confederation Cup glory, has lined up a friendly game on Sunday between the current team and the victorious Confederation Cup winning team at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The club will have its current team play against the all conquering side that won the year, 2000 Champions League and 2001 Super Cup, named as the ‘64 Battalion’ by their ever vociferous supporters in appreciation of their impressive form during the time.

According to Amankwah Mireku, a club legend, who captained the Confederation cup winning team, they will join forces with the CAF winning team, of which he was part, to form the “Millennium Team” and battle it out with the current team.
The match will be preceded by another friendly game between Nigerian side, FC Ifeanyi Ubah and Hearts of Oak.
Speaking at the launch of the event, Amankwah Mireku said the occasion is expected to bring back the smiles and the good memories of their teeming supporters who cherished the winning days of the team.
The match dubbed the “Impartation Match”, by the organisors is also expected to let the current team have a feel of the ‘never say die’ spirit of the club.
“The match is being used to impact the winning spirit and the mentality of the Millennium team which represented the most successful era in the history of Hearts on the field of play to the current playing body,” he stated.

He revealed that, most of the old players like Ishmael Addo, Emmanuel Osei Kuffuor and Adzah Tetteh who played immense roles in Hearts’ success would be present to make the event a memorable one.
They include, Captains Jacob Nettey and Amankwah Mireku, Adzah Tetteh, Charles Taylor, Joe Ansah, James Nanor, Sannie Mohammed, Michael Donkor and Osmanu Amadu.
Others are Kwame Ali, Edmund Copson, Prince Tagoe, Kwame Antwi, Wisdom Abbey and Dan Oppong.
The current team, according to the organisers, will also use the match to introduce new recruits like Samudeen Ibrahim, Samuel Yeboah, and Richard Akrofi while old guards like skipper Robin Gagne and goalkeeper Abdulai Soulama would also feature.
Club legends, Jacob Nettey will coach the Millennium team and would be assisted by Sampson Lamptey while James Nanor acts as goalkeepers’ coach and Nii Sackey Gedo Odamttey as Team Manager.
Several personalities in government and the sports fraternity are expected to grace the occasion.
Rates announced for the event include, GH¢20 for VVIP, VIP-GH¢10 while the popular stands would go for GH¢5.00.
Hearts beat rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko 8-7 on penalties to win the Confederation Cup affably called, ‘the you may kiss the cup’ in 2005 after both legs ended on a 2-2 aggregate.
